(Port) Wine of the month March 2020: Croft Vintage Port 1942
On my 50th birthday my aim was to fully enjoy a Vintage Port that I did not have before. Tough task as it seems! Corona-induced online birthday, I was lucky to step over a fantastic bottle of Croft 1942: Light orange color when pulling the cork, but his darkened quite a bit with more oxygen. Finally, after two hours, dark orange with some red reflections. Burned sugar, orange and fresh coffee in the bouquet. This gets better by the hour. White pepper, chocolate, orange and floral notes on the palate. After around three hours climax: honey and malty finish. Surprisingly strong and long aftertaste. 18/20
